Indian Army NCC Special Entry Eligibility Criteria 2026

Candidates must satisfy the following eligibility conditions before applying.

Nationality

Candidates must be:

  • A citizen of India, or
  • A subject of Nepal, or
  • A person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Myanmar, Sri Lanka, specified East African countries, or Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India.

Applicants falling under the third category require an eligibility certificate issued by the Government of India. This requirement does not apply to Nepal’s Gorkha subjects.


Marital Status

Candidates must be unmarried.


Age Limit

Candidates should be 19 to 25 years as on 1 January 2027.

Eligible candidates must have been born not earlier than 2 January 2002 and not later than 1 January 2008 (both dates inclusive).


Educational Qualification

Applicants must possess:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent from a recognized university.

Final-year students are also eligible to apply provided they complete their degree before the course begins. Their aggregate percentage from the first two or three years of the degree course will be considered for shortlisting.

NCC Qualification

Candidates must have:

  • Minimum ‘B’ Grade in the NCC ‘C’ Certificate examination.
  • At least two/three years of service in the Senior Division/Wing of NCC.

Only the final NCC ‘C’ Certificate is accepted during SSB. Provisional certificates are not accepted.

Wards of Battle Casualties

The following candidates are eligible under the separate category:

  • Unmarried sons
  • Unmarried daughters
  • Legally adopted children

They are not required to possess an NCC ‘C’ Certificate, but must submit the prescribed battle casualty certificate.

Indian Army NCC Special Entry 2026 Selection Process

Selection is carried out through multiple stages.

1. Application Shortlisting

Applications are shortlisted based on bonus marks out of 100.

  • NCC ‘C’ Certificate Performance – Maximum 50 Marks
    • ‘A’ Grade – 50 Marks
    • ‘B’ Grade – 25 Marks
  • Graduation Performance – Maximum 50 Marks
    • Marks awarded according to graduation percentage ranging from below 60% up to 85% and above.

2. SSB Centre and Date Selection

Shortlisted candidates can choose their SSB centre and interview date during the online selection window. Allocation is done on a first-come-first-served basis.


3. SSB Interview

The SSB consists of a five-day selection process conducted at:

  • Prayagraj
  • Bhopal
  • Bengaluru
  • Jalandhar

Candidates who do not qualify Stage I are returned on the first day.


4. Medical Examination

Candidates recommended after Stage II undergo a medical examination.


5. Final Merit List

The final merit list is prepared based solely on SSB marks.

Candidates falling within the notified vacancies and declared medically fit receive joining instructions for training at OTA Chennai.

Physical Standards

Physical standards vary for men and women before joining OTA.
